Our Supported Living Service provides support services to a range of vulnerable customers via our Hostel Accommodation and Supported Housing services. Following a recent restructure, we want to further develop this customer-focused and efficient service.   We are seeking to recruit an exceptional leader to manage, develop and drive the service to achieve our vision.
Balancing a strategic outlook with clear operational leadership, we are looking for someone who is creative, passionate about customers, embraces partnership working, focuses on excellent performance and is able to manage a wide and varied workload.
Reporting to the Independent Living Manager you will be responsible for leading the Supported Living Team to deliver at its
best.  You must have experience of leading, developing, motivating, and encouraging a high-performing team. You will also need to be able to use your own initiative to solve problems, make quick and effective decisions, and to lead on the delivery of key organisational projects.
The role also involves being an effective communicator to build up positive working relationships with customers and partners.

Crossroads Care East Lancashire is running an innovative project to support the carers of people living with dementia and to try to empower them to create a calmer caring environment by using Therapeutic Music Care Giving. We are looking for enthusiastic, open-minded volunteers who are able to give a minimum of two hours support per week. Are you interested in using your life skills in a positive, focused way? With the help of committed volunteers, Crossroads East Lancashire intends to examine the use of music therapy within the homes of local families living daily with dementia. Research has shown that music/singing can have remarkable effects on people with dementia and can help to improve emotional, cognitive and social skills. 
In return for your commitment we offer you a comprehensive training programme, ongoing support and reimbursement of all expenses. Please note that due sensitive nature of these volunteer opportunities, the position is subject to a satisfactory CRB check at advanced level. New Women’s Centre in Nelson!
We are pleased to announce the launch a new women’s centre for  Pendle. Following some local and national research into the benefits and advantages of Women’s Centre’s within a community, the Lancashire Probation Trust and a number of voluntary and statutory organisations* have collaborated and joined together to open the women’s centre in  Nelson. The centre will offer advice, guidance and information on a variety of subjects including health, wellbeing, relationships, education, employment and training. It will also be a place where you can grab a brew, see a friendly face and build up a network of support should you need  it. The venue based in the centre of Nelson (next to Lloyds TSB) will be open for people to call in every Friday as of the Friday 3rd February,
anytime between 10am– 2pm, with additional groups and activities advertised in the near future.

Volunteers to work alongside paid staff, providing essential support to families living in the refuge. You will work in a safe and supportive environment offering practical and emotional support to women and children at risk of domestic abuse.  We are looking for women who can work in a non-judgemental way:
*     to help families rebuild their lives within ELWRA’s refuge service
*     to support children and young people within ELWRA’s Children’s Service
*     to  provide practical help with housekeeping and basic office tasks
Management Board Volunteers
Volunteers to join ELWRA’s Management Board, to contribute to the strategic development of ELWRA and the on-going maintenance of our charity and its services.  Applicants from minority groups and ex-service users are particularly welcome to ensure equality and diversity and service user involvement at ELWRA. 
Successful applicants will attend our comprehensive 4 day induction training programme, scheduled for 31st March, 1st April, 14th& 15th April, with on-going support and opportunities for development.  In return, we ask  volunteers for a minimum of one 5 hr session per week for 12 months, and Board members to commit to around 10 evening meetings per year.

Hospice is supported magnificently by the people of Burnley and Pendle and it is essential that we are able to provide all the assistance they need in their endeavours on our behalf.  
The successful applicant will be absolutely committed to working with the community to raise funds for the Hospice, whilst developing new and existing relationships with our supporters.  Due to the nature of the post, there will be an expectation of evening and weekend commitment. 
Fundraising, sales or marketing experience is an advantage but not essential.
A full UK driving licence, together with use of  own car, is essential for the position (mileage will be paid).

Junior club 5-8 yrs - Lots of sport and craft activities on
offer for the younger children with the emphasis on FUN.  Children will be supervised throughout the day by experienced, highly qualified sports coaches and play workers and will have the opportunity to learn new skills and have a great time with friends. Junior club members who book all four days will have a mini bus trip to Welly Bobs farm on the 5th day - included in the price!
Senior Club 9 -13 yrs - Sport, play, dance, computer games, cyber coach sessions and 2012 challenges will be available to all senior members with the emphasis on having a great time.  Children will be supervised throughout the day by experienced, highly qualified sports coaches and play workers.  Book four days and get the 5th day FREE!
Senior Club members will have a morning or afternoon swim* included in the price (*child must be able to swim 50 metres unaided. Alternative activities will be provided for non swimmers.)

FUNDING
Innovation and Sustainability Programme 

CDC (Council for Disabled Children) has launched its Innovation and Sustainability Programme as part of our work as Strategic Partner to the Department for Education. The programme is intended to support the development of capacity building and sustainability across the voluntary and community sector. Closing date 15 February.
Helping Older People to Manage their Money
As part of its commitment to supporting older people, Comic Relief is providing grants for projects that will help people 65 years and older to cope with the difficulties of the current financial environment.
Time to Change
The Time to Change grants fund will distribute £2.7 million to approximately 75 projects across England from April 2012 to March 2015. The fund will support projects which challenge stigma and discrimination around mental health in innovative ways.
B&Q
B&Q donate unsaleable products and waste materials for re-use by recognised community groups. They donate items such as slightly damaged tins of paint, off-cuts of timber, broken tiles for mosaic projects. The items are donated on the understanding that they will be re-used. Items available for donation will vary from store to store.
Postcode Trust
People’s Postcode Trust provides funding opportunities to small organisations, community groups and charities through grants ranging from £500 to £10,000. The first two funding rounds (opening in January and April respectively) are open to organisations in Northern England. 
Second Round of Social Action Fund
The Fund aims to inspire organisations to create new social action opportunities through people giving what they have, be that their time, their money, or their assets, knowledge and skills. Deadline Noon 3 February 2012.
Lancashire County Council - Local Initiative Fund 
The Local Initiative Fund (LIF) offers an opportunity for Third Sector organisations across Lancashire to apply for funding in order to help deliver local and Lancashire County Council priorities: Supporting a Total Family Approach; Providing Skills and Employment Initiatives; Providing Activities for Teenagers. The bidding process for 2012/13 has now opened and they would like to invite your organisation to consider whether you can help meet local and Lancashire County Council priorities. The total amount of funding in the LIF budget for 2012/13 is just over £205,000. Applications should be for funding between a minimum of £1,000 and a maximum of £5,000. The deadline for submission is Monday 6th February 2012. For more information and to apply, see the website.

Arts on Prescription provides art courses for people who are finding life a little tough; people who are isolated, stressed or not feeling very confident about themselves and also those suffering from anxiety or depression. Big Lottery Fund (BLF) are investing £20million over the next three years to help improve the support that voluntary organisations receive. To make sure the money is spent in the best possible ways, BLF want to hear from all frontline and support organisations. Fill in their online survey and let BLF know what kind of support would help you the most. The Big Lottery Fund has published a discussion paper, Building capabilities for impact and legacy.

Holocaust Memorial Service
Multi-faith service in the peace Garden, Croft Street, Burnley on Sunday 29 January 2012 at 2:00p.m. The service will commemorate National Holocaust Memorial Day, which aims to:
* Provide a national mark of respect for all the victims of Nazi persecution.
* Raise awareness and understanding of the Holocaust as a continuing issue for humanity.
* Reflect on recent atrocities that raise similar issues.
* Assert a continuing commitment to oppose racism, anti-semitism, victimisation and genocide.
* Promote a democratic society which respects and celebrates diversity.
* Highlight the values of universal human dignity and good citizenship.

Weighing Service at Charterhouse Activity Centre & Sensory Room
Working with people who have disabilities for many years has helped us to understand some of the things that can make life difficult. Charter house now has a service for weighing people who use wheelchairs. Anyone who may have issues around weighing scales can use our service. Charity Commission Publishes New Risk Framework 
The Charity Commission has published its new Risk Framework together with information on how the framework will be applied. The Framework explains to trustees, charity advisors and the wider public the Commission’s approach to regulation and how it assesses risks affecting charities, the wider charity sector, and public confidence.
